The high school year 12 formal is a rite of passage, the celebration for the end of years of schooling, while barely on the doorstep of venturing into adulthood, lurking just around the corner. It's the night of nights of high school, and getting the dress right is one of the key parts of nailing the year 12 formal. Indiana and her formal partner Alex, a long time friend put on a stylish showcase at the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal where almost everyone else from the school also chose to have formal photographs, it happens this way every year! It's like the pre-formal party, family and friends come along too and admire everyone before heading into the banquet and awards ceremony. Indiana's family where delightful, energetic and full of jokes especially her dad, he was super involved in putting together the photos and throwing jokes in on the side. I sensed the anticipation of the changes that graduating brings, parents letting go of their near adult children, yet wanting to still connect and hold on tight to them. Indiana is heading into her future with a solid support group backing her and it was so wonderful to be able to photograph these memories and meet beautiful people.
