Family Birthday Party Photography, Cairns
This was the milestone birthday party of birthday parties. Three siblings celebrating their 16th, 18th & 21st birthday called for a very large family party with family coming from all over Australia, including from the Islands and New Zealand.
The birthday party venue was at the Pullman International Ball Room, the evening began with family portraits and ended with dancing, with family prayers, speeches, traditions and cake cutting in between. It was a busy, vibrant and fun filled night with the the younger children on MC duties, they ran a great show with lots of tender moments, heartfelt expressions and all around family feel goods.
Because it was Ryan's 21st, he received his key which was filled with meaning and detail.
Ryan’s mothers’ family comes from the Eastern Islands of the Torres Strait, Erub and Mer. He belongs to the Dauareb and Saisarem tribes. Ryan’s 21st key was designed to include his tribal totems (waumer – frigate bird, dabor – Spanish mackeral, nam - turtle) the Torres Strait headdress ‘dari’ and his interests, crayfish diving and the anchor.
Ryan’s fathers’ family is of Chinese heritage which is why the red dragon was also included.
A traditional song is sung and the key is past around in a circle through the hands of all the family - Godparents, grandparents, aunties and uncles etc the key is then presented to Ryan with everyone's love and blessings.
